Accept Jesus Into Your Heart

Asking Jesus into your heart means turning away from wrongdoing, believing in Him, and accepting God's free gift of forgiveness through a sincere prayer. 

Admit honestly to God that you make mistakes and fall short, as everyone does.

• Romans 3:23 – "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;"
• Romans 6:23 – "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
• 1 John 1:9 – "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

Trust that Jesus is God's Son who died on the cross and came back to life to pay the price for your wrong choices.

• John 3:16 – "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
• Romans 10:9 – "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."
• Acts 16:31 – "And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house."

Accept that you cannot earn God's love through good deeds, but receive it as a free gift through faith. 

• Ephesians 2:8-9 – "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."
• John 1:12 – "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:"

Decide to follow Jesus as the leader and Lord of your life from today on. 

• Acts 3:19 – "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;"
• 2 Corinthians 5:17 – "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."

There is no special magic formula of words; what matters is an honest and humble attitude in your heart. You can pray something simple like this:

“Dear God, I know I make mistakes and do wrong things. I believe that Jesus is your Son and that He died on the cross to forgive my sins, and that you raised Him to life. I want to turn away from my past and follow Jesus as my Savior and Lord from this day forward. Thank you for loving me and giving me a new life. In Jesus' name, Amen.”
